[COMM] A Pearl's Place
“Good form, Connie!” Pearl shouted as she battled her student across the ancient sky arena, holding back to give the human a fair fight. “Remember to keep your shoulders lowered!” Connie only grunted, fully focused on defeating the gem. Pearl raised an eyebrow as she was forced to give ground, her opponent fighting with all her strength today. Her vigor was commendable, although it was hard to identify why she seemed so determined to beat her mentor. Her expression seemed almost desperate, though Pearl couldn’t imagine why. Focused on the strange look in Connie’s eyes, she didn’t realize she was being outmaneuvered until her sword was abruptly knocked out of her hands, the human holding her own weapon to the gem’s chest to end the duel. After a brief pause, Pearl nodded with satisfaction, pleased at her student’s performance. “Excellent work, Connie!” she said, turning to retrieve her fallen sword. “Your form could still use work, but—” Pearl gasped as she was kicked to the ground
